Adelaide and Sydney Campus

OrientationJanuary is the time to welcome our new students to Le Cordon Bleu.

In Adelaide, Orientation started with the Master of International Hospitality Management (MIHM) students, who arrived at the school on January 11th. A close knit group of 11, the students were all excited to be in Adelaide and looking forward to commencing their course. Bachelor Degree students arrived one week after on January 17th. A busy orientation week started with introductions from the different departments that they will be in contact with throughout their degree. A bubbly morning tea and lunch showed the students eager to learn, make new friends and move one step closer to achieving their hospitality management dreams. The Bachelor programme will take students through the fundamental aspects of working in and managing a venue in the hospitality industry.

As part of the Orientation programme for new Adelaide students, a bus tour is taken through the Adelaide Hills to introduce students to the local area. Both the Masters in International Hospitality Management students and the Bachelor of International Restaurant and Hotel Management students participated in these tours. The day started with a trip to Cleland Wildlife Park, where students got to see some native Australian animals, feed kangaroos, and get up close to koalas. From the park we took a short drive to the traditional German village of Hahndorf where lunch was served. Students then had a chance to explore the quaint little town and experience some of the local food and wine that the region is so famous for. Our Masters students then had a guided tasting session at Hahndorf Hill Winery. Owner Larry Jacobs spoke about his wine making philosophy, the varieties that he chooses to grow, and why he has chosen these varieties. Both tours also visited the Mt Lofty Summit for some fantastic photo opportunities looking out over the city of Adelaide.

The 25th of January was the Sydney campus welcome 117 new students to Pâtisserie and Cuisine Courses. Le Cordon Bleu Sydney Culinary Arts Institute offers intensive training programs in both Cuisine and Pâtisserie for those aspiring to become a chef. The culinary programs conducted at the Sydney Culinary Arts Institute bring together all the critical elements necessary to master the principles, theory and techniques of classical French cuisine.

The first intake of the Bachelor of International Restaurant Management delivered at our Sydney campus begins on the 31st of January. These new students will be learning skills required for careers at management levels in restaurants and related food production and food service operations within the international restaurant industry.
